Single shot Romanian .22LR Trainer ???
« on: November 19, 2004, 03:40:54 PM »
The other day I saw what I think was a single shot Romanian trainer - Didn't know there was such a thing! It looked pretty rough - Stock finsh and blueing had seen better days. From what details I remember - It had a +21" barrel, barrel was medium/medium heavy contour, iron sights, mini mauser action and mauser safety (only the safety worked backwards from my VZ-24).

Can anyone shed any light on what rifle (model no., etc.) I was looking at?

I tried to find one on AuctionArms.com, GunsAmerica.com and GunBroker.com but had no luck. My 8x57 project riflle is just about done and I'm looking for next year's project. Like the Idea of a single shot more than having to deal with potential clip problems associated with the model 1969 trainer. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a fixed sight version myself.  It's often referred to as a Romanian Cugir .22.  It has the "Cugir" (where they were made) imprinted on the top of the reciever.  I bought mine used for $60.00.  It is an extremely accurate gun.  They have adjustable sight versions as well.  The trigger is also outstanding on my example as well.  A great little gun if you can find them.  BTW - My local Dunhams has/had them the last time I check for about $89-$99 IIRC.  They were in pretty poor shape though, rusty barrels (outside only) and beat up stocks.  If you where into cleaning them up it might be a deal for you.

That's IT - Thanks for IDing it for me.  Good pic of yours.

Now I'm trying to decide on it or a k-31 for next year's project.
