Dot size for high power
« on: November 21, 2004, 02:28:41 PM »
I  bought a 24x leupold with the 1/8 minute dot. I am going to send it to leupold for a larger dot, but i am undecided on what size. Any opinions on what size to get?

I am shooting a 24xBR-D with the 1/8 minute dot and it is okay but I have a Premier Reticle boosted scope with a 1/4 minute dot and believe this to be about perfect for me.  It is a personal preference thing, I have looked through other scopes with bigger dots and found that they distracted me too much.  I was following the dot around.

I have been shooting silhouette shooting for 25 yrs. My I lean toward the larger dots, let me tell you why. I was taught to shoot by concentrating on the target not the dot. If you concentrate on the target the larger dot is much easier to see when it crosses the center of the target. Analyse the way you shoot before you decide. I have sent in all of my scopes and had 1/2 MOA dot installed in them all. I have even thought that I might have been better with 5/8. Whatever you decide good luck
