Tbmaker down here in Texas are atleast where i hunt we take the deer and hang it in that tree in the picture and clean, because of acsess to a hose,(and gravity makes cleaning much easier that way) because we have a small cabin behind me in the picture(can't see it) that has working plumbing cause that is the house my grandfather built and lived in.

i got to my farm about 3:30 the night before just in time to do some scouting( just to see what was out their not to determine where to hunt) and saw the most deer i had ever seen down their(7) at one time and i was walking around being all loud and stuff. it felt great to see deer once again because it has been sometime sence i had last shot one(which was my first and was losing confidence) went to sleep that night with dreams of perfect broad side shots dacing in my head and the next morning before it was even light outside i saw it, was about what i was looking for cause i hunt for meat not rack and took the shot hit it and the thing took off this suprised me. (I was shooting 200 grn hornady xtp 44 mag which is the best 44 hunting load in my mind with just the right wait and velocity) I figured it would drop right off like a freight train when i hit him. it only ended up about 20 ft from were it stood when i finaly got out of the stand. clean heart shot i guess some times the adrinalin just builds up and they just run no mater what. hope to go back this weekend and do some more damage this weekend mabey a buck but i don't know i just can't stand that fowl meat. I know this sounds like a hallmart moument but i just love being out their at my farm doing any kind of hunting just shooting the (censored word)! with my cousins and uncle without a care in the world

Nice deer! Is your rifle the Guide Gun model with the barrel porting? If it is, I have the same gun with the same peep sight. Nice shooting little rifle. I use ammo that I load with 270 grain Speer Gold Dot Soft Point over 19.8 grains of 296. Gives about 1500 fps.

stick with your dad's wisdom...I reload, and heck my dad and I reloaded together for the first year to make sure we didn't mess up...Dillon 550 rocks...It paid for it self...BTW I am 30 and was 24 when we got it...so don't feel too bad...but let your dad know, once you get it down...set up a caliber in 15 minutes...and load 200 rounds in the next 1.5 hours...and with two people its even faster...

I like 300 grain Gas Checked Lead over 10 grains of Unique in starline brass...
