sendero sf for western states hunting?

do you think that a sendero sf in .7mm or .300 is too much of a rifle for hunting out west in plains and foothill country? nominal weight is 8.5lbs on the sendero sf, which is only about 1lb. more that the average boltaction is. i hunt with a ruger m77 .25/06 w/the medium contour barrel, which probably weighs over 10lbs fully rigged. its always seemed to me that it is more in the type of rifle sling used that dictates how a rifle carries. i'm just looking for some opinions on the topic.

Why not go w/ the M700 Titanium that is both lighter and probably more durable? It's an extra $200, but the titanium alloy I'm sure isn't anything close to cheap to make. Plus I've heard titanium stands up better to weather. Consider that and tell me what ya think.  :D

i would/did get the standard SS rifle.  you wont notice the extra accuracy if there is any from the sendaro.  7mm and 300 dont kick that much from an 8 pond fully ready rifle.

well, i haven't decided yet. i would go with the 700ss, but i do not like the stocks on them. after getting a 700ss and buying an aftermarket stock i would probably have more invested in it than by just buying a sendero sf, but then there is the weight issue on the sendero so i don't know what to do.

Having both a Sendero and a BDL SS I can say the weight difference should not be a really big deal in foothill and plains situations. Now Mountain hunting it could be a problem and it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

My 25-06 Sendero with Leupold 3.5x10 Vari X III 50mm weighs in at 11 lbs. with a sling and a Harris bipod. It only goes with me to stands that involve a short walk.

I really like my son's Model 7 in 6.5-.284 for longer hikes. Now that he is 11 years old and taking it over I need to start building one for myself.
