WallyWorld/NEF?
« on: November 23, 2004, 05:56:51 PM »
Was talking to the mgr. of the local WW sporting goods dept. today.  He was showing me a new shotgun they were stocking.  It was a 12 ga. RUSSIAN, break open single shot.  Very much like the NEF Handi.  But much stiffer.  Had to break it open across my knee.  Very crude but still fairly smooth finish on the metal.  He said "THIS IS TO REPLACE THE NEF HANDI, WHICH WE WILL NOT BE STOCKING ANYMORE".  But can still order.  What does this mean?  Are the Ruskies invading our territory?  Anyone know anything about this?   :x

Would that be the EAA Biakal? FWIW, they make the Remington Spartan line of single barrel shotguns! I looked at em at the local bimart, not bad and cheap, but like you said, the break action was really stiff. Their single shot rifles MSRP at just over $200 and look sort of like a Ruger #1 in the pics. Also have lots of calibers that folks here put of the NEF want list, like 6.5x55!!

One thing you can count on with an H&R its made in good ol USA.
Wal-Mart is going more and more to items made in China or in this case Russia, only thing you gotta decide, who do you want to support.

I choose the USA made products, sure there are some things we just can't get away from that are made out of the USA, but if given a choice it will be USA made.

Quick and Like2,
Yep, that is the one.  The one I looked at was so stiff I could hardly get the action open and then closed.  Guess I don't mind the russian gun being sold but I don't like the fact that it is replacing an Amercian made gun.   :x   Sells for the same price as the Handi shotgun, $89, so you know the profit margin has to be more, why else would they go to it.  WW can still order the Handi's, at least that is what I was told.

Around here in the northeast WW usually dosen't stock ANY H&R's!!! I have seen 2 stores that each had 2 H&R 12 guages in the rack. Otherwise you have to order each and every Handi you want and then wait for it. So I guess nothing will change around here....<><.... :(

The wally world in my town stocks the nef shotguns, but you never hardly see a handi rifle in the rack.A few weeks ago they had a synthetic 45-70 in the rack, and it was only in the rack for a week or so.I guess it's out pounding someones shoulder and maybe putting the smack on a deer.
