Went to the gun show yesterday.
« on: January 27, 2003, 02:46:33 PM »
We went to the gun show in Des Moines IA. yesterday.  Seen alot of neat stuff, lot's of military surplus weapons.  Sure would like to have one of the Russian Tokarev semi-auto 7.62x54, just can't seem to part with the $500.00 that they are asking thou.
Best buy of the day for me was, bought 36 rds. of empty 7.62x54 brass for $3.00, wish he had more of it thou.
Another good deal was a K98 mauser, looked like new, perfect bore for $200.00.  I might add that I didn't buy it, saving my money for .54 cal 3 band Sharps, if you hear of a new or used one for sale, let me know.

$500 will put you in a CMP M-1 Rifle , $400 in a Danish M-1. I 've shot both , but what I bought was a Garand . Made 1/44 at Springfield .

Thats not too bad of a price of the tokarev if its in excellent condition I have seen them higher I like mine they shoot awesome very close to an sks function/handling wise but the larger caliber is a bit more noisy. Did you see any Swede Mausers there? How about Mosin's? Did you see the prices on 41Johnsons and Garands? I was just wondering how much your shows differ than the ones here prices and availablility of certain guns. Here there are no swede's (decent) and what you see is a lot of G43 8mm German semi autos, 41 Johnsons, Garands,  30-40 Krags, and '03 Springfields all priced thru the roof. Its almost like you can see them but they don't want to sell them.                                BigBill

See several of the Swede Mausers, priced from $100. to $350. depending on condition.  See a few Swede 42 semi-auto, but the price is high, anywhere from $450. to $800.  The higher price being for an almost new condition 42.  See several Mosin 91/30 and 44 carbines, priced from $75.00 to $150.  Seen several Model 39 at $180. in new condition.   Lots of Garands, from $500. on up to $1200 for a sniper.  Did see a brand new Springfield M1 Garand in 308 for $995. sure like to have that one.  Never see any G43 or 41 Johnsons thou.  Just a few Krags, most in poor condition at around $350.  Lots of used 98 Mausers from $100. to $350.
