I have a Ruger Bisley 7 1/2" barrel in 45 colt. I will be loading for the first time and would like to pratice a bunch with that hunting load. I will be refereing to the Spear manual when I get it but until then can you give me a recommendation on a couple of projectiles to consider. The deer here run about 100#s. Thanks, ggardner

A lead, 255 grainer or better will make an inny and outy on any whitetail if loaded to Blackhawk/Vaquero potential

Yep, #454424 (Lyman/Ideal) Keith bullet will knock 'em flat. 10 grains Unique or 11 grains AA#5 in a Ruger makes a nice shooting load with this bullet and has plenty of power.

You may want to take a look at Hornady's 250gr XTP jacketed hollow-point, too. jd45.

I think that is the way I will go on my first run of deer ammo. The xtp is available locally and I have had some other good feed back on this round. Thanks, Gary
