pawn shop deal
« on: November 26, 2004, 12:28:33 PM »
I stopped at the local pawn shop today and found a NM Blackhawk 357- 9mm and NM single six 22lr- 22mag today, The 22 is 1978 model about 98% condition. the 357 is 1981 model in the same 98% condition. The good news is 175.00 ea out the door, the sad news is he didn't have any more models to go with them.
This is my first blackhawk purchase, is it true you don't need moon clips for the 9mm cylinder?
Happy hunting

They'll headspace just fine on the case mouth.  Congrats on a super deal.

The Moon clips have nothing to do with headspace.  They're strictly for ejection of the empties from DA revolvers.  No problem with SA so you don't need them.

Moon clips do control the headspace in DA revolvers chambered for traditional Auto Cartridges like 45, 10mm, and 9mm. Sean

You can't use moon clips with a SA revolver. You would have to remove the cylinder every time you load / unload.

you dont have to ever use a moon clip for a single action the reasion is you have to use the ejector rod to push out every shell as you spin the cylinder hell you could have a straight case with no neck none belted  case were every thing is flush an still shoot it out of a single action
