I'm going to the range tommorrow to shoot. I have the hornet conversion. I going to shoot 250 SST and 130 grains of loose T7. Any one else using this load? input or comments appreciated.

What do you plan on hunting with this load. If it will be deer only, I think 80 to 100 gr. of loose triple7 is plenty in my opinion. I have got compleat pass through on deer at 100 yards with 100 gr. of triple7. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I agree that 130gr. of 777 is way too much powder unless you are shooting over 200 yards. I just shot an Elk in the rib cage with a 300gr. Hornady XST (I think; it was the pointed one with plastic tip) and a second shot with a 295gr. Powerbelt in the same area with a charge of 80gr. of Black Mag3 and both passed completely through. Elk cow was about 475lb walking best we could figure. Both shots were at 80 to 100 yards. One standing one running. 80gr. of Black Mag3 is equal in energy to about 95gr. of ffg 777. I suspect fffg 777 might be about equal to Black Mag3 volume to volume (the best I can figure based on my chronograph results). I didn't have any fffg 777 to try. After shooting Black Mag3 I will not be buying anymore 777. Black Mag3 is a lot cleaner in my rifle.

Last night, I put the .25 ACP conversion breech plug on my new 209x50 Encore. I'm going to use 2 x 50gr Pyrodex pellets and the 295gr Copperclad AT PowerBelts.

I've got to get to the range before next Wed as that's when Muzzleloader starts in CT.

Shoot what works, I firmly belive you should shoot a smokepole alot to understand how small powder changes and temperature changes effect accuracy and ballistics. In my gun, 250 gr. hornady sabots like ALOT of powder, my best groups are with 3-50 gr t7 pellets. Other sabots like less powder, if you don't try different variaties you'll never know.
