Beeman R7 25 yd accuracy?
« on: November 29, 2004, 06:57:35 AM »
I have only been shooting air rifle for a few years now. Finally got around to installing a scope on the R7. What would be considered good 25 yard accuracy for a Beeman R7 in .177 with a 4X scope? I am talking about 5 shot groups shooting from a rest.

So far have only shot from 50 ft - the best I was able to do was .38" edge to edge which should be a .203" center spread.

R7 can be really accurate

Those R7's can be REALLY accurate considering they are such a light, porter type springer.  I can't really speak to the 25 range but Saturday at about 18 feet I put 5 pellets through a hole that is barely bigger than a single pellet strike.  Given the modest velocity of the R7, I think 25 yds might be getting "out there" for the R7 to stilll make teeny tiny groups.  But with good light and wind condtions you should get good accuracy.  Your 50 foot groups are nicer than I can shoot.  Note I have read of a few hunters who take pest birds up to the size of pigeons to surprising distances with their R7's.   I'd send a pm to you.
