Taurus Model 62

Why do I never see these discussed here?
I just picked up one for my 7 year old grandson for Christmas and it's a dandy!
It came with a 16 1/2 bbl and two buttstocks; one short for a youth, and one longer for an adult.  The sights may be crude, kinda like Patridge pistol sights, but I can hit a 2" disc at 20 yds regularly.  Well, you didn't think I wouldn't zero it myself, do you!  :wink:
I had a Winnie '06 when I was a kid, and this really brings back FUN shooting! :-D  Maybe I'll get one for me!

I had the 62.  Didn't care for it, as the accuracy wasn't that great.  But I really like the new 63.  I have the original Winchester as well.  I took my brand new Taurus and walked around with it at a gun show.  It fooled all the Winchester collectors.  My Taurus 63 is a great shooter.  Now, if only I can find the Taurus tang sight. . .

'Don't know about the tang on your 63, but the tang screws on the 62 look to be correct for the (Win.) Lyman No. 2 tang sight.  That sight is meant for the 94, but fit right on my Winder, which I compared (with dial calipers) to the Taurus.  Perhaps all Winchesters had the same angle and screw spacing, and Taurus reproduced it that way?  I got that sight from Cabelas.  They've gone up to $80 now!  :eek:

I bought my 10 year old son a Taurus 62C when he was 7. It has been a great little rifle. I bought myself a Taurus 72C (.22 WMR) Stainless rifle early this year. The 62C and the 72C deliver just around 1 inch groups at 50 yards. So far, no complaints.
Note:
Firing pin in 62C broke, the repaired bolt came back in 6 weeks, but I have not tried the rifle since reinstalling the bolt. Taurus honored their warranty with no reluctance. It did cost me shipping for the bolt to go to Taurus in Miami, unlike Ruger, which sends a shipping voucher to cover the return shipping.
