What's the velocity of this caliber. Anyone have a shooting report on it?

Check out data for a .240 Weatherby, basically the same cartridge but without the belt. In a short barrel I would think that it would be very inefficient.

I don't know how hell bent you are on the 6mm-06,but I would look at the 6mmBR in a 13 1/2" to 15" barrel it is just as fast as a .243Win.I have a 15" Fullbull barrel that is just SWEET.One thing tho groups tend to be small

If you want a 6mm that is fast,accurate and just a blast to shoot the 6BR is it! :wink:

I wouldn't say I am Hell Bent on anything. I have been looking at a couple of different calibers the 6mm BR being another one. I called Fox Ridge yesterday and talked to a guy named Don about the 6mm-06. Bottom line he was 0 help. I asked him what he knew about it and he said he knew nothing.I asked if they had any numbers on it like energy or velocity and he said no. I asked if they had any load information and he said no but it is in the new Nosler book. It Is Not! He said if a person wanted a load for it just use the numbers for 7mm-08 and go from there.He said the 7mm-08 is a nice gun.

Anyway I guess if the barrel maker is in the dark about it I will just keep kicking the tires. Thanks for the responses on my question, that's what makes this board Great.

Marv..check out www.chuckhawks.com. He has listing for the 6.06. Hope this helps. You might want to talk to the guys at E.A.Brown..they are shooters as well as 'smiths, and they are in your neck of the woods! :grin:

Check out the book 'Cartridges of the World'. It's in there, with load data. I thnk you'll find it's not a whole lot different from a 25-06, 270, 280 Remington, and you can get factory dies and brass for them. I'm pretty sure that in a rifle, the ctge approximates the over-rated 264 Win Mag (it's very inefficient)I'm not trying to talk you out of though cuz it's one caliber that always facinated me too. One cannot have too many wildcats! I can't wait to hear out you like it.
