if i were you...

i would get the one with 2 barrels (44 mag and 223) for that price as that seems very good to me.  i have an chamber insert that i use so i can shoot 22 s,l.lr through the 223 barrel that cost me 19 bucks through e.a. brown company.  so through my one barrel is able to give me 2 calibers.  i dont think you can go wrong at that price if everything is in good condition and works properly.  if you go that route, let me know if you need more details on the chamber insert ( for 22's).  good luck!

Help with Contender Fever

sounds like a great buy and a good buy. the herret grips came right hand and left hand, i think. the competitor grip is ambidextrious, as is the composite model grips. i prefer the 14" barrels myself too. you could trade or sell those to get longer if you wanted. lots of people prefer 10". all barrels will interchange. the 10" and 14" forearms are different. the 10" has one screw, the 14" has two screws. the newer frames have a switch on the hammer to change from rimfire to centerfire. the old frames can be converted to easy open for $55 at fox ridge, the tc custom shop, probably plus shipping. hope this helps :D

Help with Contender Fever

Yep I got that fever going too, first I got an Encore and now I finally got me a Contender.  My thing though was all my Encore barrels are at least 15" so my Contender I am keeping 12" and under just to make it a little easier handling.  But I don't have the barrel yet so I can't tell ya if it helps or not.   I am a lefty too and will eventually purchase a set of custom grips and forend from VVCG like I did for my Encore.  I don't know if I am just full of it but the grip they made for me seems to make me shoot better for some reason.  I bought a stainless contender just because my Encore is blued figured I would have both.  Plus it was easier to convince the wife that way hehehe....
