Just picked up my new 22 hornet from Wal-Mart today. Just took 7 days for it to come in. The manager was looking over the gun and told me he had a 223 varmiter and a 25-06 and liked both of them. He said he had a 36X scope for a while on the 223 but it made prairie dogs look like cows and was hard to find them in the scope. He now has a varibal 24x works much better. This is the second gun bought from Wal-Mart and both times was easy. Will have to clean the hornet good tonight and order some dies and brass before I can try it out.

ORB,

I have a 20" Hornet (there's a picture of it on the "pics" thread) that really likes the 40 gr V-Max with 13.5 gr Lil'Gun and a small rifle primer in Rem brass.  I load them long, 1.91", but the long throat on the NEF's will take it.   Win brass holds a little less powder.  I'm using a 4-12X 40 mm Red Head (Bass Pro Bushnell) and getting 1" or less at 100 yards with it.  Until I got my .45/70 it was my favorite, after I got my .357 Mag, after I got my .223 Rem!  They're addictive!

This is my first hornet. Have been wanting to try a hornet for a while and needed a handi to have for more barrels later on. Ordered a Simmons ATV scope for it last night. Will have to order a scope mount from H&R tomorrow. Have been looking at the 40 V max and will try them. Never used the Lil Gin but sounds like it works good.
