WORD OF CAUTION FOR HOG HUNTS IN FLORIDA
I have a Brother that lives in Lakeland. About 8 months ago, He had open heart surgery, and my Dad went down to see Him. On his trip back home he thought he would take a little side trip through the Everglades. While in the Glades, Dad had a large Boar run out in front of him, he hit and killed the Boar. It did quite a bit of damage to his truck. Dad, not knowing what to do, used one of the emergency, roadside telephones and called for assistance. Dad explained what had happened and the dispatcher had the nerve to tell him that they would send a Conservation Officer, who would issue him a citation for $1500! Seems that if you hit an animal in the Glades, it carries a stiff fine. Needless to say, Dad didn't wait aroud for the C.O. He figured that since no-one was around to see him, he would just leave. About 3 months after returning home, he received a citation in the mail for the $1500.... I asked him how in the world they knew it was him if no-one was around? He said the best he could figure, the pig squealed!
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
