Anyone have experience with Ncstar handgun scopes?  Really, really inexpensive.  Too good to be true?

I have a 2x7 for my 15" 7mm08. I will be be putting a red dot on it as soon as funds allow. I tried NCSTAR because it was inexpensive and I wasn't sure about using a scope with magnification on a handgun. The scopes recticles are hard to see and the edges "blue out" under certain low light conditions. I got what I paid for, just glad it wasn't too expensive of a lesson to learn.
