Can't say for sure about today but back when I was shooting they shot it at Blue-Gray in Guntersville and one just off US431 on between Guntersville and Huntsville. I shot in GA too but danged if I recall the name of the place. Seems like it was near Advanced Bullets plant. Check with the NRA, they should be able to tell you who's shooting where. In Alabama so can the Alabama Pistol and Rifle Club which is NRA affiliated.

They used to shoot at Magic City Gun Club and Steel City Gun Club in B'ham also. I used to make all the matches at those.

Started out using TCs in .22LR for SBHP and .22 Mag in HP. Then moved to the .32 Mag for HP. We also shot iron sight matches here as well as the regular scoped class. In the iron sight HP class I shot that long barrel S&W 29 you see in my other avatar when I'm posting as Graybeard. Using it one year I won every single iron sight HP match held at the Magic City Gun Club in B'ham.

Back then the hold I guess has become known as the Taco hold was just getting started. We used the TCs with rifle scopes and held them in various ways up close to our eyes. The .32 mag was all I could keep out of my eye and even it bumped me from time to time but never hard. I used mostly Leupold Compact 6X AO on the .22LR and a Leupold 6x42 on the .32 Mag as it had the longest eye relief I could find. Back then I felt 6X was about optimum for me in the game.

Matt the Webmaster here was shooting with me back in those days also using TCs. He shot only the .22LR in both SBHP and HP. He was just a young squirt back then so only had the one TC in .22LR.

Try looking on: tsra.com/NRA_Sub.htm  for the NRA schedule. Many matches may not be listed until March or April. There are NRA Hunter's Pistol matches in
      Knoxville & Chattanooga, TN
      Rome(?), GA (near Atlanta)
      Columbus, GA
      southern AL.

IHMSA has a very similar discipline called Field Pistol. Look on IHMSA.org for their schedule. I'm in WV and do not know where their clubs are in those states.
