I'm back, and here's the hunting report

I guess I'll start with the story first. On Sept 4, dad had a heart attack and quad bypass surgery. On Dec 1, we spotted a nice buck working toward a milo field and managed to circle around and ambush him on his way in. An excellent deer, and in the truck by 8 AM on opening morning. There were 4 of us with buck tags, and we filled all 4 by noon on the second day of the season. Here are a couple of the pictures from our trip. It was an excellent year.

Sorry, but I can't seem to get these to show up right. Check them out in the album.

At the moment we're having a bit of a problem with images from the GBO album showing here in the forums. I've changed them to URL links rather than images and clicking on them should work fine. Matt's looking into what's going on with the images we host. Hope to have it fixed soon. GB

Thanks. The coolest part about the whole hunt was that dad had a heart attack and quad bypass surgery and I didn't think he was going to get to go until about 2 weeks before the hunt, so this whole year was bonus.  He was the one who got the muley, and we dropped it off this morning to be mounted. We had both deer under the tarp, and the taxidermist opened the wrong side, so I told him that we weren't mounting him because he was the baby. Boy did his eyes bug out. And then he got to see the muley. And did I mention that dad only started hunting deer about 6 years ago after I took it up for several years? Teaching your dad how to hunt something is a cool experience, and watching him tag that one was especially meaningful for me.

Well, some guys were telling me I should reconsider and mount mine, but I just can't bring myself to do a full mount on the smallest rack of the trip!    I'll probably just do a cap mount on it and call it good. Body weight was a whole different story. I processed both mine and dad's, and I pulled about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 more meat from that whitetail than I did from the big mulie. His body was really massive. I think I'm still in shock over the whole trip. That kind of success isn't common, and I don't think we'll ever see anything like that again.
