Got my gun back today!!!!!!!!
« on: December 03, 2004, 04:35:49 PM »
I got my .357 back from NEF today   .They did a trigger job on the rifle and it is great.I got home and mounted my simmons scope.I mounted it on a weaver scope rail(looks alot different than a factory NEF rail)and Milett scope rings.I hope to have a chance to sight it in tommorow, and see if they fixed the problem with the puncturing of primers.I'm very happy so far.I think it will be a lot of fun to plink with some .38 special ammo. :D

should be a fun plinker with those .38's. i was hoping to sight my new rossi .44 mag in tommorow (bought a stainless one   ) but when i got it home i notced that it has 3 scratchess in the inside of the barrel all being about a foot long. so i'm going to have them put another on order tommorow and have them take the damaged one back. so hopefully this time next week i'll have a good .44 rossi

I think you will like the stainless.I really like my .22 mag stainless. It seems like the stainless finish is a little nicer than some of the blued models i have seen, but i have seen a few blued models that were finish nice also. Are the stock and forearm on yours black with a textured finish? When i got mine the stock and forearm were just painted black. The .17 hmr I looked at had a black textured finish on it .Kind of looked neat.I bet you could duplicate the finish with some of the spray in truck bedliner stuff. That would look cool I think and also be durable. The .17 hmr I looked at was $189.00 ,I thought that was a little strongly priced( i almost fell out on the floor laughing at the guy behind the counter) They also wanted $169 for a nef sporster in 17 hmr.

Do you reload? If you're shooting a stock 357 barrel, you might find that a 200 grain bullet and 3.5 grains of Unique will shoot pretty good. This is a load that equals an old police load, drives a 200 grainer to 750 fps or so. I've tried it in my 357 Max, but I think the chamber is too long now for accuracy from a 38 Special case. I don't know all the places 200 grain 357 bullets can be found, Magnus Bullet Co has a nice round nose version, Lyman still makes a 190 grain mold that is the same as the Magnus bullet. I am shooting htis in my MAx, but it would be neat to find a load that takes less that 5 grains of powder, a good cheap shooter. Such a load should only make about 800 fps even out of a rifle barrel, a nice soft plinker.
