Were those entire bolts or just striker assemblies??  Bolts are restricted sale items from Remington and have to be fitted to set the headspace.  Srikers are not so hard to some by.  Usually the maker will tell you what is needed to thin their product.  I'd try mineral spirits but in a small batch first..

GunNut,  I've heard that Brownells are also offering Remington bolts now.  They use to be restricted, but I guess their Lawyers decided that enough money could be made from the sales to justify the sales.   Actually anyone with the right machine equipment can turn out the bolts with little difficulty.   Don

A search of the Brownells website shows remington 700 bolt handles but bolts are listed as not available.  They do sell 700 short actions and perhaps they have bolts seperate for those but I seriously doubt it.  Of course I've been wrong before so a call to the Brownells tech line will give you a 'for sure' answer..

Brownells is offering Remington bolt actions now, not just barreled actions.  They do offer the striker assembleys, but I'm with Gunnut on this one, I don't think anyone would sell a bolt to someone without proper headspacing.  Even it is Remington.
