so do they exchange barrels or is this something that should be updated on their website?

Rossi was going to offer fitted barrels ala H&R/NEF, but if you see the variety of frame sizes (at least 4) and various heat treating or lack of.... Forced them to shelve the barrel program. I was at the NRA Expo when it came to Houston, TX and I cornered one of the Rossi/Braztech Reps. about the program and was assured it was forth coming..... ah no as it turns out ::) :-[.

I own several NEF/HR single shots and found a great deal on a matched pair from Rossi (22/410) when WallyWorld was having a sale.   It is blue with wood.  I ordered the hammer extension and scope base for it to mount a 4x scope.  I have mixed feelings about the Rossi.

The quality of the finish on both the metal and wood is mediocre at best but for a pair that cost just over $100 plus tax, I'm not bothered.   However when looking from the "iron" sights (the rear sight is made of hard plastic)  you can see the front sight was welded on incorrectly.  instead of the sight being lined up at 12 oclock it was canted to the right lining up at 1 oclock.  This in my opinion is inexcusable Quality Control.

After placing the scope on the 22 barrel we were able to get 3/4 " groups at 50 yds. which is about the limit my son shoots anyway.   The 410 barrel throws a beautiful tight pattern out to 25 yds with Wnchstr #6  2 1/2" shells.

I just went to the SHOT show in Orlando a week ago and went by the Rossi exhibit.  To my dismay I found three more 22 single shot barrels, mounted on the actions that had their front sights canted to the right.  I am totally disappointed in the QC at Rossi.   I can't believe they would bring that kind of example to the largest show in the US, maybe the world.

They have the ability to make a very good cost effective firearm.   They really should seize the moment and "clean house" on their assembly line.

I skipped the first 2 pages and comments are on the top posts here...sorry if off topic.

I spoke with Rossi last week and there is no "barrel program" as menitoned by an above poster.  It just won't happen.    I inquired as I was going to drop my .270 front on my .308 receiver.  He advised against it but I could here hesitation.  I did not delve further as Rossi SHOULD have the stance to not interchange....however I would personally place the .270 on the receiver and inspect the fit.  If its still a snug finish and within my tolerances I have no fear.  I WOULD not place my x39 on the .308 receiver though as this is a totally different cartridge.   (((Turned out I won't need to as Rossi is repairing for free MY screw up)))

As to the front site being "off", have you CALLED them?  I never send in warranty cards (not on a $150 rifle) and not for something with a scope....but I get the feeling that if you called and asked about the canted site they MAY take care of you on this.  It reminds me of the Maadi builds.......seemed like 65% had canted front sites!  I have a Carcano TS in 8mm with a canted front site, drives me NUTS.  But then again carcano in 8mm is NUTS.
