My Walmart has a custom order book out on the sporting goods counter.  Try asking to see the "book".

They are pretty particular about what you can buy on their .com site.  I guess they don't want to "offend anyone".

You have to go in and ask for the book at the sporting goods counter.  It's kind of like buying ammo....they get particular about who they sell to.

I am going to get a stock from http://www.gunstocksinc.com  You can get an unfinished Walnut stock and forend for $75.  Thumbholes are only $10 more.   Only $20 more, and you can get the whole set-up in laminated wood.

We've been talking about them here    http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=48874

Farmerdude, Here is the link for the Wal-Mart special order guns and ammo, http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=170080&path=0%3A4125%3A4155%3A170080
They do not list T/C as a vendor they deal with in this link, sorry.
Have you looked at Boyds' Gunstocks, http://www.boydboys.com/BrowseEbus/Encoretca.asp
They make a nice stock. The Encore stocks are available in thumbhole or conventional. And Boyds' has a forend blank in laminate that should be big enough easily for you to make a set of grips from.
I always look at Boyds' specials pages, once in awhile a very good deal will be listed there.
I have a Contender buttstock from Boyds' that came fully finished, and I am really pleased with it. I also just recieved a VIP forend, and it will not take a lot to finish it, and the fit is very good.
I have a walnut Contender Gunstock Inc. forend on my desk now, that needed a lot of reshaping and contouring to get it anywhere within reason. This forend was bought almost two years ago, and they may have improved now.
 Hope this will help, Andy
