How old is your oldest NEF/H&R?

Mine is my topper 156 .22 hornet.According to the faq section mine is a 1975 model.How old is the oldset one you guys have.Mine has the old hammer with no transfer bar. :grin:

I have an original Harrington & Richardson single 12ga with the top lever, I believe it's older than I am. :cry:   ...looks just like this one and it's a pre 1899....

'99 SB2 Ultra Varmint in .223.  I now have a 45-70 barrel for it.

I have a H&R mod 158 1972 or 73 model 410 shotgun bought

Harrington & Richardson 158 topper 20 ga 1973 bought at Venture's in St Louis.

H&R "Sportsman" bolt-action in .22lr. Got it used forty years ago, probably made in the early 1950's, and still shoots great!

Also a .223 Ultra and .17HMR, circa 2003...

I have 2 Topper Model 158 30/30s. (one is for sale :grin: am taking it to a gunshow this weekend, and if it doesn't sell watch for it in the classifieds.).

I can find no serial numbers on the receivers. Only 4 digit numbers on the barrel block. Only number on the receiver is pat. no. Color case hardened receiver.

Pistol grip stocks (look like walnut) with original H&R recoil pads. Snap off forends. No transfer bar safety.

I am going to guess 1971 because in the FAQ section, the snap off forend is mentioned for that year.... but again, I can find no serial number on the inside or the outside of the receiver, only a 4 digit (no letter) number stamped on the barrel block.

 1968, Because that was the year the law was passed that all guns

 had to have serial numbers I do a little more reserach on the

That's a good point - pre 68- before it was required to have a serial number. Makes sense. Thanks.

On the other hand it may make it difficult to establish acutal date of manufacture because of lack of serial number.

Oh well, they are great guns. Nice  tapered barrels, wood stocks, weight is about 1.5 lbs lighter than the current NEF 30/30.
