How much do encores normally run...??
« on: December 08, 2004, 04:10:40 PM »
I am lookign into getting an Encore in both a muzzleloader barrel, and a 25-06 barrel.......but I was wondering how much it is for the base price of a T/C Encore....just the simple wood and blueing.....nothing really all that special, I just want a good gun that wont tear the meat up as much as my 30-06, and I want to extended my season a little longer with the muzzleloader.......I went to a gun shop where their prices are very high!! And for aa 209x50 Muzzleloader Encore, the price was $569 (i think thats exactly what it was, but somewhere around there).......is that a normal price, or can I do better......the factory sights are awsome on those guns, and I couldnt believe how steady I could hold it freehand.......ALOT better than with my Rem. 700 ADL!!

TIA!!

depending you might get a great deal i know a guy who might make you a great offer but unless you have your own ffl license then he will have to send it to a shop and you will pay for the difference unless you have soem friends who own a store and ffl license. good luck i got mine in originally 25-06 i paid for everything right at 550 for everything including some shells. the 209x50 is more than the other barrels

I bought my complete encore from wally-world for 505.00 plus tax.
It is a stainless/composite gun so a blued one should be less

Never seen one RUN.    They're usually just laying there kinda pitiful and fat. VERY over weight.  :)  Come to think of it maybe if they would start running they'ed lose some weight and not be so heavy.

I got mine from a gun show.  7mm-08 blued with composite, a Simmons variable scope AND a set of dies....all for $450.

If you check the guns hows..and ACT like you're not really interested...then make a comment about how over-priced it is as you SLOWLY walk away..you can make a good deal.  It's kind of hard to find the right configuration if you have something SPECIFIC in mind though.

As luck would have it, I walked into the gun show wanting a 7-08 AND an Encore.  Finding both in the same gun made it that much sweeter!  There were only 2 encores in the entire show (the other was a beat up 270 for $550).
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

I was at a gun show in Orlando, Florida last weekend and saw a local dealer with a good spread of Contender and Encore stuff sell a new all camo Encore 209x50 for $600 cash.

MC Sports here in Ohio has the 209x50 blue/wood rifles for $499.  You will eventually add barrels anyway. . . :)

Well, it's got to be worthy of humor when the Administrator jumps on it but I won't be as facetious. :)  I paid $500 for mine and have seen them as low as $475 and as high as $600. There are used ones out there for very reasonable prices. As GB stated, they are heavy beasts and not a good gun to carry around all day. I use mine for varmint hunting so it wouldn't matter if it weighed 20 lbs. Shop around and check the gun shops often.

There's a pretty good felt weight difference between the composition/Rynite stocks and the laminated stocks.  Not just in the weight, but in the way the gun balances and handles.  Most of the Encore rifles I've handled with the wood or laminated stocks tended to be butt heavy.  The lighter composition stocks move the center of gravity forward a little bit, so to me they handle better when swinging the gun up for a shot.

Ok, today I weighed my Encore on a friends digital scale that is super accurate. With a walnut stock, 26" heavy barrel, scope, sun shade and harris bipod, it weighs 11 lbs. 3 ounces! That is one heavy gun to be carrying around!!!!
