Remington 600 Mowhawk
« on: December 09, 2004, 11:56:15 AM »
I've been using this gun from a friend since my gun was ruined in an accident. Even though this gun was criteria for the recall w/ the saftey, it's an awesome gun. Good looking, attractive action and short barreled (great manuevarbility). If I were to ever come across one...I'd love to get my hands on it. Anybody have one or know off hand where I could find a good one? Thanx!  :D

I have one in 222 and it is one of my favorite calling rifles.  I would love to get my hands on a few more of those little rifles.   It is one of the best that remington ever turned out.

I have a Mohawk 600 in 6mm Remington.  It is one of the finest shooting guns that I have ever owned.  My dad bought it in the 1970's sometime and it is still in mint condition.  It is SUPER accurate.

Oh, and I did I mention accurate? Or deadly?

I got a doe with this gun on the last day of PA doe season. One shot from it w/ a 95 grain ballistic tip @ 20 or so yds put her flat in her tracks.  :P That gun put the bullet right where I wanted it and delivered the goods.  :D

Had one in 308, was freaky accurate but with 18" barrel  kick and flames out of barrel made shooting a challenge. Had to sell to make tuition payment. :( Worth the $400 or so I see them at  gunshows for. I'd go for a model 7 myself.

Thebear_78, can't see real good from your photo but, your gun looks like it has the Neil Jones (steel) trigger guard also? Does it? I'll bet that .222 in ideal for coyotes?
Rick56,  I never found the recoil to be a problem with my .308 but, I had one in .350 Remington Magnum until recently, and this one was a real hoot to shoot.  You mentioned the model 7, if Remington would start making those in stainless in .223, I'd start leaving my heavy barrel 22-250 at home and lighten my load on coyote hunts.

yes it is a metal trigger guard.  There really isn't a better walk around predator rifle.  I shoot 40gr Vmax out of it at around 3100fps.  Works like a charm with little pelt damage even on fox.

Please excuse the sideways picture, I don't have a gun vise. This is a picture of my Remington Model 600 in 6mm Remington. This gun was given to me by my dad (Chuck White) for Christmas of 1990. This gun was originally bought by my grandfather. This is my favorite rifle and really means alot to me. I would love to get other calibers. Has anybody checked out the 673's?

Chris, I haven't been to Indianapolis 1500 show in a while but, I don't think I was ever over there and not see a couple. People in Indiana must of thought highly, of these little jewels?

My dad gave me a Mohawk .222.  I got my first deer with it, a half rack 5 point.  Shot it straight through the heart at about 75 yards. Extremely accurate rifle with such a short barrel.
I heard some people complaining on another forum about this gun but I will always keep mine as it performs very well.  Some people just do not know what they have!

To the guys who posted the pictures of their rifles:

Thanks, those are great looking rifles! Many years ago my dad  had three of them 6.5mag, 350 mag and 222. That 350 would rock your world, it was a real head turner at the range.

Some of those caliber sound kind of exotic? I don't remember Remington bringing those calibers out in these guns? Customs?

i do like those old rem 600 series rifles

by the way you still have that 308?
i would love to add that to my list just have to get rid of something

you wouldnt wanna trade a thompson contender in 221 fireball for that 308 would ya ?

let me know on that

and the 6mm br is almost complete its been a 4 month journey with it but the time is almost here

let me know gotta have another 600 rifle

Yep she's still in there. I don't really have use for a Contender but, I'd trade it for an original .223/600? Haha, I'll bet you'ld do that deal. I've only seen one original .223 but, have seen several of the converted .222's.
Take care, Steve

Hey fellas, if you're gonna do the gun trading/etc keep it in PM. I can't allow gun sales/trades unless you guys are listed with GBO as advertisers, sellers, etc. SB, I realized some time ago we discussed about me buying your .308 and it didn't happen and neither of us were penalized, but GB has been cracking down on the selling/trading of guns without being listed. But you're not selling it to whomever, it's a personal sale, so keep it personal. Thanx.  :D
