2005 Winchester Catalog-Holy Cow!
« on: December 10, 2004, 07:42:39 AM »
I was in my local gun shop today at noon and picked up the 2005 Winchester catalog on my way out. Glancing through it, all I can say is, "Thank you, USRAC!" Model 94 Legacy with choices of 26" octagon or round barrels and blued or case-colored receivers from the factory with Marbles tang sights! Offered in 38-55 plus 30wcf caliber! Do you think they finally get it? The 24" barrel legacy is still offered. The model 94 traditional appears to have been dropped but the ranger is still there--probably for the Walmart crowd.

Also an 1885 high wall hunter in wsm calibers. Doesn't have much of a "period correct" look (it come with the Decelerator pad) but, given the caliber choices, what the heck. After seeing those legacies, I'm not in the mood to gripe. MSRP on the 26" legacies ranges from $783-$938.

Another new option is the model 94 trails end hunter and hunter octagon case-colored offered in 25-35 Win plus 30wcf and 38-55.  These have 20" barrels and msrp at $468 and $816 repectively.

Life is good!

Humph!, wish they'd bring back some of the larger caliber levers like a 50 Express. They keep bringing out the "rabbit killers." :(

There's an original in the rack at my local gun shop.  Want me to see if it's still there?  Send me a PM, and I'll be sure to go check.

I want several of their new models!  I'll take a Trails End Hunter in 38-55, a Legacy Octagon-CCH in 38-55, and a Trails End Octagon-CCH in 44mag.  Now if I can just get all those lottery numbers to hit.

Definitely like what they're doing!  Saw one of the Trails End Octagon Color-Case Hardened 45 Colt's at a local shop.  Looks really nice, except for the wood fit to the receiver.  They could use a little more attention there, but the selection of offerings is heading in the right direction.
