Starting to wonder about Ultra Dot scopes?
« on: December 10, 2004, 03:35:36 PM »
I put an Ultra Dot on my 629 last summer for deer season.  During deer season this year I had a mishap and bent the front ring. No, not the mounting ring but, the ring that the daylight filter screws into. I returned home and immmeadiatly contacted Ultra Dot by email.  They have never returned an answer by email. I called Ultra and they referred me to Larry's Guns. I have tried to call Larry's Guns for a week now and his business phone is constantly busy during his open hours. After a few days of no success by phone I started sending emails to Larry's. As of yet, I have not got an answer from either Ultra or Larry's on how to get a new front ring so I can once again use the daylight filter that came with the scope. I managed to pick the threaded part that was left in the front of the scope out so it's just a simple, screw a new one in deal. beginning to think this wasn't such a good buy after all? Who owns this company? Are they made in the U.S.? Not much info in the box it came in, not even a parts list or parts break down. Does anyone here know of a source for parts for these things?

I went through Ultra dot west. I did not have a problem but I wanted to send them the registration card. I sent it to the address on the warranty card and it was returned. But I did get it to Ultra dot west. Here is there contact info.   :D

Here is the address I used and the phone number I called. The red-dot is imported, not a US made item.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try Ultra Dot West at the first of the week and  see if they have any interest in helping me solve this problem. Thanks, again.

I contacted Ultra Dot West this morning by phone and she told me she would ship me one of these monday morning. Found out that Ultra Dot West is the owner's from Florida daughter and in fairness, she told me that her father has been ill, so any delays is understandable(at least by me).

won't buy another ultra-dot myself

I bought my first and only ultra-dot off of E-bay. It had leaked out the nitrogen so I sent it to Larry's and they fixed it and charged $20 for the repair. No big deal, EXCEPT, that when it came back the red dot had turned into a halo (like on an angel) and was much brighter if placed at the top of the FOV and very dim at the bottom of the FOV. I'm guessing a lens has slippped. Anyway I called them and they said send it back w/ a note explaining. I did. It comes back with a note that it is out of warranty and the screwed up dot will not effect accuracy, so it is ok and they will not repair it. The dot was fine before they got their hands on it but they say they couldn't have done it and won't fix it. I have never spent that much money on a red-dot and was very disappointed with the service I got. Ultra-dot and Larry's will now have to suffer. Hell hath no furry like a PO'd ex-customer.   oh yeah, I almost forget that after 3 weeks of waiting for the first repair that I had to call them and remind them that they had my scope. They acted dumb but when I read off all the information from the invoice they had sent they got a little smarter and apologized for forgetting it. It wasn't enough in the end. :(
