Nice beaver
« on: December 11, 2004, 03:24:17 AM »
Well, this morning i went back to move one of my two beaver traps that I've got set out right now. It was too close to the dam and they kepy knocking it over, I didnt give4 them enough room to dive through it so they tried going over and just set it off. About 50 feet below it at their secondary dam, I have another trap set, an old 330 my dad had when he was a kid. The springs seemed kinda weak but since it's all i have, i put it in. Well this morning I went in and what do you know, a 55 pound beaver in the old trap! Caught him perfectly, right at the base of the skull. I ordered 2 more 330's last week off of adirondackoutdoor.com (really good trap prices) and I'm setting those out later on today. Cant wait to put out a few more fisher sets, either, the action has been slow on them so far with the warmer-than-usual weather up here. But they're calling for snow on monday, that ought to help me get a few more.well, just wanted to give an update on that. Can anyone tell me how to get the castor from this guy? I'd appreciate any info on it...

Happy trapping

Dustin

After you skin it, you will see it. They will be 2 lil yellerish lumps on the belly near the groin. Easy to see.
