Wolfhound,
THanks for the tip. I think I tried that but it didn't seem to work so I edited...I'll have to practice some more
Jeff,
No ill will. Just unsure of your motivations from your post. I try not to BS when it deals with hurling chunks of lead downrange at 2000 fps at living creatures...though the stories that result may receive a dab of BS as time passes
I put a LOT of work into this gun over the past year. You cannot see the aluminum pillar and bedding job I did from the photo.
Deputy,
I have mixed feelings about the In-liner. The optical quality seems decent, at least as good as a Bushnell. Good enough I can't really tell the difference from anything else. The cam system for range compensation is a great idea, but the number of variables in ML shooting make it not as good as it probably is on a CF rifle where bullets/trajectories are much more standardized.
They say to set the cam for 100-300 yards, but the load shoots too flat to do this. They reference the XTP and the manual, but I don't think I'd advise shooting a deer with an XTP at 300 yards!! Instead I set it up for 200-400 yards using 200 and 300 to set the first two cam set points. The cam adjusts more or less perfectly from 200 to about 330 yards. Beyond 330 I have to start adding some additional "lift" since the bullet starts dropping faster than the cam compensates. At 400 yards I have to hold 10 inches high. All in all a decent scope, though next time I might go with a target knob scope. Having the back of the scope move up and down means the cheek weld must be different at longer ranges since the center of the tube will be higher.
