If, for instance, I was looking for a 7x57 Mauser which one should I look for?
I know the 93 Mauser was the first issued with 7x57 and it was used by the Spanish and the Boers but which other governments used this cal later on?
Also, how strong are the actions?
Will they stand up to modern chamber pressures or are they a fair way behind the 96 or 98?

The 1908 Brazilian 98 in 7mm has to be one of the strongest actions in the 7mm's, there is a Czech CZ 24 that was in 7mm too that i think is just as good too. There is a Chilean Styer 1912 in 7mm too but i'm not sure what size the action is, i think its the same as the 98. There's a large ring FN vene 7mm too. I think the '95 and '96 actions are about equal in strength. The '93 has to weakest of the 7mm actions but that doesn't mean its not safe to shoot you just have to becareful what load you use when you reload it and what new ammo you put in it too. Some of this new 7mm ammo is on the hot side and i wouldn't recommend it for the '93 or '95 action. When reloading for the 7mm we also have to watch what gun they list on the page too. Some list the older '95 while some will list a modern gun like a winchester. I picked up my '95 chilean barreled action from Samco but its actually a '93 barreled action its missing the third lug on the rear of the reciever like the '95 has while i trust it i'm careful how i reload for it too just start out lower and work up. Yes, there are 98's in 7mm but in my somewhat limited experience finding one with a good barrel isn't easy. It's humid in South America. Shop carefully and beware of buying sight unseen even if the price is attractive.

Its probably the humid weather and the really bad corrosive ammo that helped ruin the barrels so bad.

Is it possible to get replacemnet barrels for these rifles?
And where on the Allen's Armory site are the guns featured? Could you give me a link, Bill?

New milsurp replacement barrels for these are about impossible to find in the small rings. I think Numerich has them in the large ring. Springfield sporters who I hear is back in business had some used small ring barrels in stock. I bought one from them and the bore while dark had good rifleing in it. The 93 action will shoot factory ammo just fine but I would not hotrod any reloads as was stated. Keeping the reloads at factory levels would be fine. Jim
