1861 REVOLVER-PIETTA or UBERTI ?
« on: December 12, 2004, 01:40:45 PM »
I would like to purchase 1861 Colt repilca my previous  experience with PIETTA left a lot to be desired(tongue in cheek). I have heard that Pietta has improved their manufacturing facilities? The last two Ubertis were excellent(1860), anyone here bought a Pietta lately. Thanks in advance...Montanadan.

Got 2 61's from Taylors at WR last yr and have been shooting them all yr. (about 15-18 matches so far) and not had a single problem.  I put in Treso nipps, smoothed out the internals, changed out the hammer spring to VTI replacement ones.  I load 20gr 3f Ele, rnd ball (cast my own) and put lube, Hodgen BP lube, on top.  They will function well for 50-60 rnds each without so much as a hickup.  Will be getting another pair this yr. at WR 2005.

All I have is  Pietta and I would have to say that they are all excellent.  I have an 60 army, a 58 Remmington, and 2 51 navies.   I have tinkered with them over time, but nothing that was required.   They have all been good shooters out of the box.   I think Pietta is definitely a good deal.  I have also heard that Mr. Pietta is a fairly regular visitor on the SASS Wire, making it fairly easy to contact the supplier with problems.
