Tried the Sellier and Bellot 22 hornet ammo.
« on: December 12, 2004, 05:16:15 PM »
I thought the S&B ammo shot fairly well.At 8.99 a box it is alot less money than the other hornet ammo I have purchased. It's not as accurate as the winchester ammo i normally shoot, but it's great to plink with.I remember reading in a previous post that someone said it wasn't loaded consistantly. My hornet dosen't have the transfer since it is older, could this be why that person claimed they were having so much trouble.Does any one know of a good gunsmith in georgia that can do a trigger job on my topper 158 and not mess it up.I'm fairly sure you probably couldn't get replacement parts for it.The trigger is the worst of any handi I have. Its got to be something like 8 plus pounds if i had to guess. :?

v8r, I was one that had trouble with S&B ammo,  the place I bought
it was high $10.95 a box of 20, went wally world bought REm 50 Rd box for 21.00$. S&B had small Flase holes, could not deprime with die.
I gave up with the D___ S---- gave it to my Son he had a TC.
I  think all of the 158"s have bad trigger pull, mine is 7to 71/2.
I havea 1999 model NEF SB2 action that has a six Lb pull.
I am glad the newer have better Trigger pull, so I hear.

Trigger jobs are not hard to do once you know how to R&R the trigger mechanism and a couple tricks.  I've done 4 of em now, gettin easier each time. All you need to know is in the links below, download the 2 part instructions from Perklo.

Mine dosen't have the transfer bar,so I didn't think the internals were the same. The hammer strikes directly on the firing pin.

The transfer bar system doesn't affect the trigger job, it's not even touched. The three bottom pins are the only one removed and I'd bet the rest of the trigger is identical or real close to the same.
