These type mounts are still available, check with Brownells.  Weaver shows different mounts for the pre 64 rifles and the post 64 M94's.  So unless the Holdens are different then the answer is, no they won't fit.

Why do you want a side mount for a 94 AE?    Weaver and several other companies make top mounts for that rifle and the rifle is all ready drilled and tapped for these mounts.

Sir Judson>
Go back and re read the post!!!!  Is clearly states that MY gun is a top eject!  MY model 94 is NOT D&T'd for a scope because of the TOP eject that WAS mentioned in the post .

Sorry about that!!!!    Is your rifle drilled for a peep sight? (two holes on the side of the left rear of the receiver.)   If so again Weaver, Williams and a few more make the mounts and you do not have to drill and tap, a lot of the  per 64 and many of the newer ones are. For the older rifles you have to drill them for the most part.    Bye the way, the Sir is not required, I have not been knighted as of yet but thanks for the early recognition.
I have all both types of mounts for the top eject and even some for the AE but we will not go there.

Sir Judson!!  WOW!  Please accept my humblest appologies for any lack of proper address on my part..  All kidding aside JUDSON, I've not scoped many of the 94's. Most hereabouts seem to prefer them iron sighted or with the receiver sight.  Do you happen to know what the difference is between the pre64 and the post64 rifles?  Weaver lists 2 seperate sode mounts for them and I don't really understand why.  I've a couple in the vault but haven't looked yet.  My truck quit this evening so tomorrow promises to be a pain in the butt getting it towed, and hopefully fixed..  The daughter is getting her first degree this weekend and it is truly a poor time to be truckless.  If we're lucky and she gets in vet school I've only four more years!!!

Judson my man hows it going? 8)   Is that better.  Thanks for the clue to the 2 little holes in the side. I still think I want a side mount scope though.  What is your experience with these.  seems like it might be a little awkward!!  Oh well, a buddy of mine gave me a kwiksite mount last night with rings and all.  Just have to find the proper screws ti fit it up!!
Later
I wonder if the fact that he gave it to me says something??  hummmm

If the Kwiksite is a side mount you'll still need the rifle drilled&tapped..  I used side mounts on some other rifles and they seemed OK.  A Swiss SR straightpull was brought in that a local shop had drilled a couple of time and still hadn't gotten a mount to work.  I fitted a side mount(one more hole) and the owner loved it..  It seemed a bit clumsy but the Schmidt-Rubin is clumsy in any case. The scope sat to the side to allow the straight up ejection and it was right in the line of site of the shooter.  I've a Winchester M71 that some misguided soul drilled and tapped for a side mount.  It surely destroys the balance of that piece.  In another instance I bought a Winchester M75 sporter that had been drilled for a side mount.  The defacing of this rifle reduced the price drastically and I put a new 4-12x40 Bushnell in a set of ofset side mounted sights.  These mount to the side of the action(they fit the existing holes) and offset the scope over the center of the rifle, just as if the scope were mounted in normal scope mounts.  It works really well.  Just as an aside, JUDSON builds some really beautiful custom rifles and is a valuable asset to these boards..  Hope all goes well with the project..

I was under the impression that you used the existing holes that are already there.
I meant no offense to anyone and surely hope that none was taken!!
Thanks

KwhiSite does make shotgun sites that way but I've not seen a 94 winchester sight so mounted other than some of the scout scope mounts that require a long eye relief scope.  No offense taken just a little information.

That was good, but I am not so sure I do not like the Sir Judson better.
The Weaver mount I mentioned is a side mount and if your rifle has the two small holes on the side in the rear it does not require drilling and tapping.    You will see a big screw on the left front of the receiver the mount uses this screw hole and the two rear "peep sight" holes.    The base you are looking for is a 3D base for the pre 64.    You will also need the side mount rings Weaver has both a long side mount and a short side mount.    If you are fairly tall and have a rather long length of pull or going to use a scope with good eye relief the long mount works best.   If you use the short side mount you will have to turn the scops side ways so that windage is now elevation.    If you do not do this on the short mount then the ejected case or cartridge will hit the turret and drop back into the action causing a jam.
The front screw I mentioned is the reason for the two different bases on the post 64 Winchesters that screw is a lot bigger then the pre 64 model 94, but there is a catch there are two different size screws for the pre 64.   The ones not drilled for the peep have even a smaller hole so this all can be a pain.
If you need any he;help with this feel free to call me # is 207-938-3595

You know, that Sir Judson is growing on me, I like that!!!

Thanks again Gunnut!   With that Quick site mount you will probably have to turn the scope to the side to avoid the shells from hitting the turret on ejection.    This is not a problem as long as you keep in mind that left and right is now up and down, if you have a problem give me a call or Email.
