Ruger MK II and Scope

I've about narrowed it down to a Ruger, the Buckmark is much more money, it seems. I need a scope on any handgun. Is there a scope mount available for a Ruger MK II that doesn't need a gunsmith? I can't find any MKIII's with long barrels.

All MKII's with adjustable sights made in 2004 now come drilled and tapped with a Weaver base.  reakin

You can purchase a scope mount that attaches to the frame at the grip screws.   It is a Leopold Product.

I purchsed one and mounted a "red dot" sight to the gun. I have shot about 12,000 rounds through it and have had zero problems with the scope or mount. In fact when taking down and cleaning I can easly remove the barrel without disturbing the scope mount. Replacing the barrel I seldom need to re-zero.

At least twice a year I do a detailed strip and clean. At that time the mount is removed from the frame. When test firing I may have to make a few clicks up or down to re-zero.

the factory weavers work just fine for me
