Cocking Piece Peep sight for Mosins and Mausers

There is a company in Rice Lake WI that is making a really nice looking rear peep sight for the SKS.

Well I do not have a SKS anymore though this sight looks like a dandy. I did ask the guy if he ever would make a peep sight for the Mosin Nagants and the Mausers that fit on the cocking piece. Both guns had them back in the days before WWII as a accessory sight you could get to add on. I told him to come to forum sites like these and ask if guys were interested if we generated enough interest he maybe would consider making these sights. I know the peep sight for the SKS he makes looks like a steal for 45 bucks! SO how many folks here would be interested in these type of peep sights? I am curious and if there would be enough interest I would email him and tell him of the interest. Jim

I talked to my gunsmith today who is a fan of these types of peep sights. He said the naysayers either have never seen one or shot one as they do work. No they maybe not target grade but as a hunting peep sight work just fine as is what they were intended! He also stated a lot of these were sent to the customer aready mounted on a cocking piece all you had to do is replace it with the origional therefore not ruining the origionality of the gun some thing some have mentioned when I mentioned this sight.

Thats what I would like it for my 91. I have a scout scope mount on my Pole 44 but no scope for it yet. I adapted a peep ring that will take inserts to go on the origional rear sight base of the 91 no windage of course you have to move the fromt sight but no matter how folks consider the mojo type setups they are really not a peep sight.

Howdy
I have both a 44 and a 91 and if the price is right I would be interested in on to try out if it would be like the original style, because both are new unissued and all # match so I wont to keep then in new condition.

I'm planning to build a cocking piece peep for my son's 'new' M38. It will be a while before I get to it though. Bought a couple extra cocking pieces ($2) so I don't have to mess with the original.
