Nosler partition 95 gr. .243 for deer
« on: December 15, 2004, 04:26:41 AM »
I'm considering this bullet for my new .243. Has anyone used it on deer or antelope?

243 load

I've got a 100 grain Nosler Partition load that shoots very accurately in my Ruger M77. Although, I haven't killed anything with the load I'm confident it will get the job done.

shot 2 deer im my first years out with the 100gr version, my dad also shot 2 deer with it befor he sold it.  they will work great fro you.  i shot one from the last rib and it broke and exited the far shoulder.  you'll need a sharpe knife to go with that too.

95 grn. Partition for deer and antelope

lilabner,  Can't comment directly on the 95 grn., but have used the 100 to take a few Alabama whitetails, and some antelope in Wyoming.  Caught a big ration of crap from some other hunters on my first antelope hunt for carrying "not enough gun".  Funny how they didn't have much to say when I was the only one at that ranch that evening who had an animal in the cooling shed.  One shot instant kill at 417 yds.

If you place the shot properly, that partition will kill effectively!

IMR4831 worked best in my rifle.  Best of luck, and good hunting!!!

One bullet on my to try list is the Barnes 85 gr tripleshock. I have heard good reports back on the 25 cal 100 gr version, reliable expansion and great penetration.  Another bullet you hear alot about is the 85 gr seirra hpbt gameking but I have not tried it yet. All I have used on big game was a 100 gr plain Jane, and I got a small doe with it.

Congratulations, you've selected one of the best deer bullets available in the .243 caliber.  We've been using the 100gr. for years in the .243 and they have yet to fail, we've had head on shots where the entrance is in the brisket and the exit is in one of the hams at the other end of the deer.  Have absolute faith in it, there is not a better bullet made for the .243 caliber catridges.

This bullet and cartridge accounted for 4 antelope and 6 deer when shot from my wife's Sako Forester. Good accuracy and superb penetration!

The 100 gr. Partition is what makes the 243 a suitable deer rifle. I don't see any problems with the 95 gr. version. See which one groups the best and your ready to go.
