Opinions Please on the Encore Katahdin Carbine 209x50
« on: December 15, 2004, 09:16:46 AM »
Thompson Encore has a Katahdin Carbine muzzleloader now available.  It comes with a 20" ported barrel in .50 cal.  I'm thinking of buying one, but before I do...

Questions:

1) Anyone out there tried it out?  Are they any good? Accuracy?
2) Does the porting present a problem with fouling / cleaning?
3) I like the feel of the weapon. Short and fast, but is the barrel too short? or not that great an issue?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Wish I could help with this, I just picked up my Katahdin 209x50 barrel today. A friend has one also, seems to like 75 grs. T777 with power belt, unknown grain. I just wish I could have gotten the barrel in stainless steel to match my frame.
I won't get to shoot mine untill the weekend of CHRISTmas, let us know how you do and what works for you.
