Plan on very few hides to tan! The 25-06 is quite hard on coyotes. I have blasted ground hogs into soup with the lighter bullets. The heavier slugs will blast bone fragments all thru a critter. The 25-06 is a wonderful LOONGG range gun though,75 grers @ 3700 fps are amazingly flat. Sighted in for 300 yds will still be in the chest of a coyote at 350 yds.Wind can play games with your aim.

I have just been shooting paper with mine, but getting good performance with 75 grain V-Max and Accurate XMR-4350 and CCI200 primer.  Been too busy with other things, but will probably take a crack at some coyotes later this spring.

IMR 4350 is the powder of choice for my 25-06. I use it with a 100 grain and 120 grain load.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

I don't believe there is really much if any difference between the 4350 powders from the different brands.  I use the Accurate XMR because I found a sale on it and stocked up.  Have about 30 pounds of it left.  I think they call it AA now, but used to be called XMR.

The nice thing about Accurate is the data on their website and that form they have there to ask question about specific combinations and receive a persaonal reply by e-mail from their tech's.

The fellow that I bought my 25/06 barrel from used the IMR 4350 in it and gave me some of his loads.  I loaded my own with the AA XMR 4350 (now I believe called AA 4350) and they both shot to the same point of impact and did not see any differnce in primer appearance.

If you have some of the IMR available, use that with the 75 grain V-Max and see how they perform.  By the way I also substituted some Hornady 75 grain hollow points for the V-Max and they also shot to the same point of impact on paper, at a few bucks less per box.

We can't tell you the "best" powder because you have to tell us what you want - maximum accuracy, maximum velocity, or availability?  Best accuracy really depends on the rifle, as some will shoot more accurately with one powder while others shoot better with another powder.  Nosler lists RL19 as giving the highest velocity and the best accuracy with this bullet, so I'd start there.    :D

I don't know where you looked.  In the current Nosler Fifth Edition manual, page 167 for the 85-grain bullet:

57.0/RL19 = 3600 fps
53.5/IMR4350 = 3450 fps

No data for IMR4831 is shown.   IMR4350 will work well if you are willing to give up 150 fps.  :D

Be very careful when using data from that source - or from any source which publishes load data from "individuals".  You do not know if the loads are either safe or accurate.  Only use data published by respected bullet makers, powder suppliers, or other sources (like Lyman) which actually TEST the published loads with pressure equipment.

Changing the bullet make, type and brand may - or may not - change the velocity and/or pressures of a particular load.  For examp0le, if using Nosler bullets you should use Nosler data.  If using Barnes X-bullets, you must use current Barnes data.
