Hi, im new to target shooting and would like to know what in your opinion is a good youth rifle? :grin: thanx

A 22 long rifle,cheap to shoot,or a 223,for a center fire rifle.

I would suggest an NEF or H&R. They are inexpensive and shoot very well. They also come in youth models.

Are you planning to do informal shooting or do you want to learn 3 or 4 position formal target shooting? How old are you and how big are you? Could make a real difference in the rifle to recommend to you.

For informal shooting the CZ Scout is a nice little 22 bolt gun at a modest price. Savage makes a youth model and I think there are others out there.

For FORMAL target shooting you need a rifle more specifically designed for the sport. Its been so long since I was involved I hesitate to make a recommendation - though - Marlin makes (made?) a modestly priced rifle designed for target shooting.

I'm into air rifles right now and depending on your size and strength, I'd suggest you look at Daisy's Avanti series 753, 853, 888 (CO2), or Crosman's Challenger, or Tech Forces' QB 79 for a modestly priced air rifle. You could learn a lot of the formal marksmanship basics with an air rifle and do it in your own home, garage or maybe back yard.

More info please..... An 853 Air Rifle will serve you well. In Hi-Power an AR-15 heavy barrel might be just the thing. Let us know what your interest is in.
