I was at the shooting range today (inside) and the gun shop that runs it.
Was looking at the Marlins, had a hankerin for the 38Spl. CC, but the man behind the counter said they did not have any right now and the price was $700.00 tax included.
They had a 1894FG in 41 but the wood did not match, buttstock was real dark and the forearm was real light. Pass on that one.
He did tell me that about an hour and a half ago a man came in and traded in an 1894S for a handgun. He said the man is a big gun collector and he remembered the guy buying this gun about two years ago. The salesman also said that you ought to see the wood on it. I said could I look at it. He went in the back and brought it out. Fellas, I'm telling you, the wood looks as if its off a $1000.00 custom rifle. Like one of them Parker-Hale Shotguns. BEAUTIFUL
The blueing is deep blue, real deep. I asked how much?
He said he would sell it for $400.00, tax and all.
I really don't think the owner ever fired it, no wear on any of the metal surfaces.
I know it's got the Micro-Groove rifling not the Ballard type.
So I wanted to ask you Marlin owners, Do ya think it's a fair price or too high?
Since I traded my Marlin 1894FG to my father, I'm really needing another Marlin real bad.
