myronman3;

Talked to bb44 today, and guess what? His 10-1/2" Super Blackhawk, the barrel is backing out, just like yours. I bet it does not have 400 rounds through it. What is with these guns? Has the quality gone down since William passed away. Seems like it to me.

oh i believe it; aint happy to hear it, but i believe it.   when three guns that i bought have the problem, it just can not be a fluke.   he can expect to wait about 2 months for his gun to get repaired, and if he wants a solid answer about the problem-good luck.   my guns had it happen before the 500 round mark.  and they were not hot rounds, either.
the guns were not all newly manufactured, either.  two i bought used.  one i gave my dad was used quite a bit.   the other one was used very little, and the third i bought new.

did his ejector rod housing fly off?

this is exactly the reason i posted this story of woe.  so others might have a clue as to what is about to happen when their rugers start hitting left.  turns out graybeard wasnt just whistling dixie, after all.

if he wants my name to let ruger know that he knows this aint some fluke, it is: myron holley, and i sent mine in at the beginning of november.

So I'm not the only one. I bought a SBH SS, in '95 I believe. Shot it for a few years, then put a B square scope mount on. Shot it this way for a while then took the scope  and mount off. Noticed my barrel had turned just a bit, enough that the screw that holds the ejector rod assembly on was bent. Had a local guy repair it and sold it later to a friend. He has had no problems, but does not shoot much.

The gun is new, he exchanged it. His orginal handgun was a Gp-100, he had only put a few factory rounds through the 357 and the fired cases were sticking to the cylinder. That was FACTORY rounds, not handloads. If I recall it was less than 2 boxes. two different brands.
No,the ejector rod did not fly off but the point of impact went way right. So he stopped shooting, looked at the ejector rod housing and the screw was about to come out and he said something about the threads showing.
Sounds to me that this should warrant a product recall on all SBH's.
Yup, ole Graybeard knows the problems of these Rugers. He made reply post on the Ruger forum about a 96/44 that was hilarious about them rifles. Now I read that the 77/44 will be dropped in 05.
Looks like Ruger has some serious QC problems to take care of.

first taurus went to hell- quality is iffy at best and customer service aint worth beans, either.

at least ruger made an attempt to fix it in a timely manner.  i like the guns, but really got burned by the timing of the break/s.    i talked to quite a few folks at ruger, and am sure they fixed the problems and i doubt i would ever have the same problem with them ever again.   BUT i took money out of savings to buy that f.a. 44, and i am going to sell the rugers to make up some of the money i spent.

i considered filing a suit in small claims court against them; all i would want is for them to buy back the two guns (maybe three-depending on how dad feels) for what i bought them for.  nothing more.     i dont know if i will or wont yet.   still chewing on it.

You got to be kidding right??????  You would have a snowball chance in H*** getting anything. They fixed the problem, get over it and move on. Had they not, then I could see your frustration. I understand it came at a bad time and I would be upset also. If you don't want your Ruger's sell them and be done with it.  :D  Start enjoying your Freedom Arms.

not at all.  i have 6 different examples of super blackhawks that broke in this fashion, three of which i bought.   after what i have been through, i dont trust these guns to work when i need them.   and i aint talking some frivolous,b.s., 'i looking for some easy money' scheme; all i would want is for them to buy back those guns for what i have into them.
now the reason i havent gone that route, is that i dont want to be an excuse for the wrong kind of thing to happen here.   we all know that this could easily happen.  and i would rather eat the price of those guns than contribute anything to the "dark side".
the fact that ruger did fix the guns speaks to their favor, but they should have.   one gal at ruger acted like i should be glad they were not going to charge me.    that didnt sit well.   and i had a talk with her about why it is she should be bending over backwards to see i was treated right.   as it stands, here is a list of guns that were on the list of guns to be added to the collection  :  single six hunter .22,  red label 20 gauge, and a 22 magnum bolt action.    plus rifles for my two sons in the coming years.    by her getting an attitude for those few precious seconds, combined with the mediocre handling of my other "issues", ruger lost the sale of three guns in the next year alone.
bottom line is that ruger has a problem with their super blackhawks.  they surely know it.  and while i was taken care of eventually they still could have done better by a long shot.  there were alot of phone calls by me that went unanswered.  i would say at least 8 calls where i got nowhere and some folks were supposed to call me back and never did.
no as far as not having a snowballs chance in hell, remember that the courts are quite liberal in my state, and ruger would at least have to be represented there.  what would that cost?  and what of the bad press?   look, i aint one for a easy payday when it isnt something i havent worked for.   and i sure as hell wouldnt want to further an agenda i hate.   truth is i doubt i ever would, but ruger is dodging a figurative bullet here; someone else might be.   ruger just barely satisfied me.   there are a lot of things they should address.
hell, all i ever wanted was to enjoy shooting my guns.   i used to think they were about perfect and was really disappointed at the whole experience.   luckily i wasnt hurt with the first one, and the second one cut me (but it wasnt all that bad).  but it could have easily turned out differently.    and i hope others are as lucky (or luckier) than i was.
and i hope that YOU never have any problems with yours.

yeah guys the gun gave up on me. you know the screw is bent slightly but the threads of the screw are crushed in ,almost flat on one side, not like a stripped thread, but actually crushed. i have always bought ruger guns because i thought they were tough. but i have to say i have never had a real problem with my m77 all-weather 270win. it has the older skeleton style stock. i have had bad luck in the past couple of years with that gun but this year the Lord has really blessed me with a good season. i think the main thing was i always had a cheap scope on it. so far i have taken a couple of coyotes,my biggest buck ever, and a couple of freezer deer. so i dont know is it rugers handguns or all rugers
