kevin.303 - ouch!  Man, whoever did that surely hoped the Game Warden wouldn't spot it in the woods.  But, not to fret, and to follow up on EdSmith's comment, you can always 'De-Shrek' it and return it to stock.  Then all that camo paint would only be a bad memory..........  Mikey.

because of the paint job the feller selling it only wants $150 CDN. tempting, mighty tempting.

That is one ugly job.  Looks like a doper special out of the Emerald Triangle!  Do you know any history behind that mess?  What condition is the metal work?

It could be worse, I have seen some of the bench shooters paint their stocks pink, purple, yellow and glossy rainbow blends.  Even stickers on the side.

i've emailed the guy selling it a few times, as i hope to buy a '92 Winchester off of him next month. i asked about the jungle carbine and he said the metal work is okay, and it's pretty good for accuracy. he insisted it came to him that way.

Chris D:  Yep, I've seen some of those stocks too, and they be funky.  However, that being said, I have had the absolute priviledge of watching a couple of young gals practice for smallbore competition using some incredibly rakish 22lr target rifles, complete with custom colored stocks, designs and personal logos, and with the way these young gals can shoot and with the way they enjoy their 2nd Amendment rights, I feel that is just fine.

A couple of years ago I worked with a gal whose husband had her carry piece customized.  She is a pretty gal of Philipine orgin, short slim build and cute as the dickens, until she produces her frosted pink Beretta M34 and centers the entire mag on a silhouette target at 10 yds.  Then she is all business.  I never laughed, not even once.  Later on she tired of the frosted pink and her hubby sent the piece back for a frosted blue finish and it, and she, still shoot just as well and nobody at the range laughs, not even one bit.  I guess this all goes back to the old addage that it ain't whatcha got, it's how you use it.  Mikey.

Fear not, the situation isn't hopeless!  I bought a contender carbine with a similar treatment and it all came of pretty easily with some 0000 steel wool and paint stipper and didn't hurt the wood or the blue at all.  Usually folks that do this stuff don't do any prep work and the paint comes off easily.  You might wanna know whats under there though....sometimes they paint it like that to hide something not because they love camo...

good luck.
