Encore Duo Mounts---love'em or hate'em?
« on: January 31, 2003, 05:44:47 AM »
A set came on the Encore 7mm-08 I just bought. I don't care for them myself. I didn't ever like them on Contenders either. I never really tested them much, I just never cared for them. What do you guys think?

Also, I am trying to figure what mounts to put on the Encore 7mm-08. Any thoughts or opinions? I am not so certain the favorite Weaver base and Burris Zee ring set up will hold on the 7mm-08?

I have the Weaver base and Burris rings on a 15" 7mm-08 and it has worked great.  No need to do anything else.

well, i've never used the duo mount. i use the burris dual dovetail mount with signature zee rings on the 7-08 and 6br encore. my .223 and 6tcu contender have the weaver base and signature zee rings. no problems so far. i also used the dual dovetail redfield base and rings several years ago with no problem on a 6x47 and 30-30 contender. anyone use the 3 ring redfield mount?  :music:

Stupid design, Can't position your scope any for and aft. Tried it once and never got off the workbench. Totally worthless.  KN

I have the Duo Mount on a 15" Encore .243 Winchester and have had no prblems.  When I picked the gun up from the dealer he pointed out that mount does not give you much fore and aft adjustment.

Also have the Redfield 3 ring base & rings on the 15" Encore .260 Remington barrel, and it works great.

Love em other than those cheap soft head screws that comes with them.  You can put them on about one time and they are shot, even with a screwdriver that fits properly.  I quit using them when they went to the nasty dull finish instead of the bright blue.  I always hear about no for and aft adjustment.  Never been able to figure this out with a handgun scope.  The eye relief is such a wide range I just put them on and use it.

for a normal factory tapered barrel what is better?
the weaver hangs out over the taper and moves some. For those who do not believe it put a piece of paper under the weaver between the barrel and mount and fire your gun watch the mount do a impression on or even cut the paper.
you can only use 4 holes on the weaver.
I have both the duo mount and the burris set-up
Think I like the burris a little better but the duo mount works fine on my 30-06 and casull.
no problems so far.

JUNK - HATE THEM!!!
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
