Browning BAR in .338 Win Mag

:-)
Have any of you forum members got any experience with the BAR in .338 Win Mag? Can this rifle take several thousand rounds without having mechanical problems? It seems most users find it accurate in other calibers, so I would assume it retains this property in .338 WM. It seems that this is the only semi-auto rifle hunting chambered for what some of the hunting experts consider the beginning of the "dangerous game" cartridges.

BAR Mark II Safari

Hey,

I've got the Mark II Safari model in 338 with the BOSS.  I've had it about 10 years now and have shot hundreds of rounds through the gun.  Most have been maximum pressure handloads with now problems at all.

I did have to locktite the BOSS in place as it worked loose by itself prior to the locktite.

Accuracy is just under 1 moa for the first two shots.  Then things start to drift (probably the heat).  I reload Nosler 225 Partitions because they just shoot real well in this gun.

I've never had a functioning problem with this gun.  I'm guessing that I've shot the gun in excess of 400 rounds by now.

Good luck,

B. Noz.

Back in the 80 I lived in Alaska and can tell you this the 338 BAR was sought after by all types from the sourdough to the greenhorn and they had a loffty price tag used because Browning stopped that chambering several years befor. I have a seven mag BAR and there built to handle just about any load with in limit's  "great gun".
