I have two bamboo fly rods that I discovered in an old house I bought. Both were sealed in aluminum tubes and had been for at least 30 years. I am a fly fisherman but these should be with someone who can appreciate them for what they are. I am interested in selling them. Can anyone help me with determining a fair market value?
Rod #1-South Bend, Double Built, HDH or E, 253-9'
This is a 4 piece rod with two tips, 2 servings on one tip have been replaced. All pieces are straight and have no set in them. Everything else is original. I would rate this rod as very good, not perfect, but used and very good.
Rod #2- Heddon, #20, 9', 2 1/2 F, HCH or D
This is a 4 piece rod with two tips. One of the tips has been broken near the butt and has been repaired. Two guides have beed re-served. All the guides appear to be original. All pieces are straight and have no set in them. The reel seat looks like horn and has a small split about an inch long and a couple of milimeters wide. The varnish on this rod is a little rough and it probably needs refinished.
I have tried to be as honest as I can in these descriptions. If you have any questions, let me know.
