My main question...is this gun as accurate as a savage 223. wat can i expecet at 50yds, 100yds, and 200? Ne and all info would b appreciated thank u

What you can expect and what is possible are two different things. You might get a 1/2 incher @ 100 but 1 1/2 is more likely and realistic. I don't know if anyone has enough guns of one caliber to really judge what the average is. My .223 is a NEF but I think the action and barrel are pretty much the same. It will do .75" and then come back with nearly 2". I think taking more time between shots would cure most of that but you are not going to get a benchrest winning gun for $250. I'm sure it will kill any critter I care to shoot at under 200 yards and with a little more work I can probably stretch it to over 250, I don't need more.

I've not had a Savage but from what I have heard not all Savages are as accurate as all Savages are(if that makes sense). You probably have a better chance with a Savage and less down side, but even the cheap ones are at least $100 more and others are as much as any other bolt actions. Comes down to what you want.

well that sounds reasonable. This thing wont shoot huge groups will it? about 1-1/2 at 100 normal. i could live with that. how big will the groups b at a bout 200 u think?

:D, welcome aboard reed, as long as you don't get the superlight .223 you can expect 2-3" groups at 200 yards with the Winchester Value pack ammo from Wal Mart (White box). 40 rounds to the box for about $13.00. Get the 45 grain hollow point and have fun, These little guns will normally shoot as good or better than the average shooter. Spend some time here, take your time shooting using the basics, and they will shoot and shoot great, and remember have fun and be safe!!!....<><.... :grin:

well im plum tickled. thanks a lot ill have to go and invest in one...but b4 i do, do they come with a weaver style base...or wat...well thanks ne ways

I haven't shot mine at 200 yet but do plan to sometime soon. Groups don't always open up at a predictable rate so I'm not sure what it would be but it will be bigger. In a perfect world 1 1/2 would grow to just a tad over 3 @ 200. I'm hoping and expecting a little better then that for mine from what I have seen it do so far.

One thing to keep in mind is that they like lighter bullets. 45gr Winchester HP are usually the standard to judge by. Mine likes them but shot the best group with 52gr black hills ammo. It shot an OK group with their 55gr SP also. Hates Winchester 55 gr FMJ and Federal 60gr partitions. You may have to try several brands to find out what it likes.

Yep, the gun should come with a scope rail for weaver style rings and a hammer extension. Depending on what scope you decide on you will most likely need either medium or most likely high rings. I like and use Millet angle loc's on mine, others here like Leupolds or Burris Z-locs. Get good rings and the best scope you can afford, there are scopes out there on sale for about $100 that will do fine though....<><.... :grin:

Your question has pretty much been answered, but my 223 UV can usually cover 3 shots with a dime.  those are 40gr Vmax handloads.  That's where the real beauty of these guns starts to shine, in handloading.

My son's standard 223 will shoot the Win white box at 1" all day long.

I was at the range playing a couple months ago.  There was a 2" wide post stuck in the ground 289yds downrange.  I hit it everytime I tried from my benchrest.  It was too easy.

Compared to a savage 12V???  I bet my money on the Savage for averages, but for the money???  You won't get the savage for $250.  If you do, I'd get the Savage! :-D
