Blackhawk hammer springs
« on: December 22, 2004, 02:33:59 PM »
Merry Christmas
Is there an easy way to change a Blackhawk hammer spring? Also is there an advantage to a reduced power spring? I'm almost afraid to try to change one for fear of bending the strut or not being able to get it back together. Any advice is appreciated.

Zeek,I had to get wife to help me get hammer spring back on ,but it's not that hard to do. If you have the manual from Ruger it tells you most of what you need to do. I just sent away for Wollf reduced hammer spring at 17lbs and trigger spring at 30 ounce can't wait to put them in 45 Ruger.Good luck!

You can also take out the old spring and compress it and liten the trigger pull and hammer drop. I have done this with good results but do not recomand it unless you are willing to buy the new springs. If you get it right you save some money if not you buy the springs. If you try it go slow and compress it alittle at a time. It`s no big deal, any dumby can do it, heck even I did it.  :o
