Puff-Lon
« on: January 31, 2003, 01:53:52 PM »
Hi paper patchers, I have a question that I hope some of you might be able to answer.  Has anyone ever tried a product called Puff-Lon?  It is supposed to be able to replace the wad, grease cookie, and act as a filler.  It is also supposed to increase accuracy, keep the barrel cleaner, and keep the brass clean.  I don't know if they are only using it with smokeless or what, but I would sure like to know if it works with black.

If it does, I would like to give it a try with my PP loads and BP.  Any informed comments would be helpful.   :D

Omaha,
I tried the PuffLon a couple of years ago.
It did'nt do any of those fantastic things for My gun,but it does as good a job as filler as does Dacron.
It is quite expensive, and I only use it for Hunting loads,or loads that may be subject to hard use. My reasoning is that Dacron, although I've loaded thousands of rounds with it without any problems,MIGHT some how shift it's position, and leave a space between it and the powder. This will destroy any accuracy, and may be dangerous. The PuffLon completely fills the case, and,if it is slightly compressed, can't cause this problem.
That's all that I know.
Good luck,
Frank
