Okay, who knows where I can locate a barreled action 6.5x55 Swed? I may even consider just an action. I need to build a gun for another grandson. Since all of the others have Sweds, he wants one too.

See BigBill, just like I said, :oops: I won't butcher anymore original Sweds. Matter of fact, I took all I have and locked them away in the safe and plan to keep them full military.

I have purchased a couple of actions, one Gustafs and one Oberndorf, and been pleased with what I received.

I believe that "guns n stuff" and "Samco" have a deal because "guns n stuff" seems to sell Samco's swedes. I purchased three swede barreled actions 1/M96 carl gustaf, 1/M96 oberndorf and 1/M38 carl gustaf and three M1895 Chilean 7mm barreled actions('93 boer bent bolt actions) and all have been ok, bolt numbers match, good bores too. Get them swede's while you still can!!!! Don't pass up those 7mm's either they fit the swede stocks and make great sporters

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to spend a few bucks and get a coupe two three for good measure. I have a complete set of wood that is in excellent shape, I may just put it on one and put it in the safe as a military shooter.

I'm going to look into the 7MM too. I just ordered a Mauser K98 still in militrary new condition from Mitchell's Mausers. I paid too much for ($299. plus shipping) but after seeing one my buddie bought, I had to have one. They were build with German machinery in Serbia. His does look brand new.

Some of us old farts look like damn fools for not buying and preserving these old military guns years ago when they were "giving" them away. It's like Pa use to say, "Son, hind sight is always 20-20."

Rockbilly considering the prices of sporting guns these days and how they have gone up in price, these milsurps are a steal and cheaper now than they were back in the good old days considering the price of other goods compared to them. Yea it seems they were giving them away then but back then 5 bucks bought a lot of groceries! Not Now! Jim

Its not like were in a candy store with a $1 anymore but its still cheap for now. I don't think the cheap prioces will last for too much longer as supplies runout the prices will go higher. So get what you want now and sit back and enjoy them. BigBill

I guess after you think about it for a while the prices are not really that bad. After all when we were buying milsurps out of a 55 gallon drum at a department store for 20-25 bucks you could buy a new car for $2500. I bought my first new pick up in ALexandria, La in 1965 for $1900. It was a '65 Chevy, C-10, 235 six cylinder, stick shift. They came with no radio, heater or rear bumper. I made the bumper out of a piece of oil field pipe, bought a radio and heater from Wards and installed them myself. Drove the truck for almost six years and sold it for $1800. We call them the "good old days", I darn sure wouldn't like to go back to those days. Yes, after thinking bout it for a while, them guns sure are cheap...............can't afford not to buy em.
