new '06 is an ejector ....

not an extractor. it's a 2004 model. very well finished. cleaned the main working parts. very few shavings. clicking like clock work. hope to shoot tomorrow. the 4x trashco i had in the locker is mounted in leupold weaver rings. was going to bore sight it on a porch light at 100 yards. didn't have to move a click. i know it's rough boresighting at night, but it'll be on paper at 25 yards for sure. hope initial impression is heightened tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing about it. Seems that the only person reporting on a 30-06 was Mortie, but we know where that went. Will be nice to hear about the 30-06 in a good honest fashion. Hope it's a great rifle for you.

Edit, Oops, for got Sourdough, he really likes his, sorry 'bout that friend.

Is yours a standard Handi with serial# starting with an "N"? Or an Ultra serial# starting with an "H"? It seems apparent that only certain calibers and models are getting the extractors. Looking forward to that report. Let us know about recoil too. :D

it's an NU* standard, with ejector. it appears to be sub-MOA capable. i didn't shoot for group this morning; only to get aligned for 2.2 inches high at 100 yards. took me 9 shots with 150-grain factory remington core-lokts because i always turn the windage the wrong way at least once (this time twice). it is ready to roll for tomorrow's hunt. the stupid little trashco 4x is exactly 1/4 inch per click vertically, as it should be, but 1/2 per click for horizontal! in any case, i noticed no vertical stringing, which ws nice. the trigger is sweetly crisp and light. no ejection problems. i think this is a good one, which will merit much better glass after the season. :)

Sounds like a winner then. Get some blood on it now and you're hooked.

oh, i've been hooked on 'em before. and my 17-year-old has an ultra in .308 that i hope he bloods for himself tomorrow. i already blooded it for him with a six point three weeks ago, but he can blood it again. and it'd be nice to break in the '06, too. :-D
